Art + Community

Art connects people - with other people and with themselves.  Below we highlight some of the personal connections made through art.  Some of my favorite artists and some great organizations building communities around the arts for the betterment of everyone.  We're lucky these people and organizations are in the world.

A great dude, talented ATL-based artist with big work that you'll never forget.

Another great dude.  With Haitian roots, Stephen brings his unique perspective to life with some coffee notes.

My brotha from another motha.  Italian-trained stone carver, artist, musician, and teacher. Fantastic sculpture work.

Notable Artists

Was blown away the first time I saw her work and now have three pieces.  Anna has such a cool flair to her strokes.

Baltimore + Miami brother.  Global citizen. Artist. Author. Philanthropist. Man of many talents!

Originally from Ghana, TAFA now works out of his studio in Harlem with his singular painting style.  Love his stuff.

Funkadelic not only describes this musical legend's songs but also his art!  After being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, George, has exploded onto the art scene!  Very cool.

One of the Miami greats, Carlos is an incredibly warm and welcoming person, which is reflected in his colorful art.  Enjoy!

A good friend and the best wildlife artist I've ever seen.  Also a lover of animals and a humanitarian, founding Arts for Animals many years ago to teach African children the importance of all the wild animals to their culture.

Fellow food lover and all-around good dude, Omar works out of Mexico City with a mix of styles and mediums.  Great stuff.

With Baltimore roots like me, Derrick not only rocks the art world as a creator but has always had a teaching, giving side.  His newest venture - The Last Resort Artist Retreat - is featured below.

When I first discovered Danielle's work at a London gallery many years ago, it grabbed me.  And she's just as cool as her paintings!

"You may say I'm a dreamer. But I'm not the only one. I hope some day you'll join us.  And the world will live as one."
